Celebs Look to Beauty’s Bestseller for Latest Lines

Traditional media outlets are catching on to the latest fad among celebrity A-listers: nail polish endorsement.

We’ve been updating you on this new trend for the past couple months and it’s going to be covered on ABC’s “Nightline” tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET.

Celebrity names from Sarah Jessica Parker to Kim Kardashian have been a staple at perfume and makeup counters for years, but now some are lending their popular brands to nail polish lines, including singers Katy Perry and [Justin] Bieber. The move has proven to be an enormous success.

Buyers flushed with “Bieber fever” cleaned out the pop star’s polish collection from Walmarts around the country in less than two months after his line launched in December 2010.

Could this be the extra little somethin’ players need to become a 5x NBA champion, 13x NBA All-Star, and 2x NBA Finals MVP?

Kobe hit up a nail salon in Newport Beach, CA for a little mani-pedi action last Monday — the day after his Lakers lost a tough game to the Boston Celtics.

Now add 22 years to that number.

That’s how long Atlanta woman Jazz Ison Sinkfield has grown her nails out. Why would she do that, you ask? To meet famous people, of course!

Jazz Ison Sinkfield says her lengthy nails, the longest of which is 24 inches, is her divine gift – no doubt because she would have to be somewhat of a magician to carry out day to day duties with such long talons.
‘I am very, very blessed’, the grandmother told WXIA. ‘One day I want to meet Oprah. And a lot more celebrities. And I just want them to hear my story’.

We discovered today that R&B singer Monica is joining the ever growing list of singers (Justin Bieber, Katy Perry) to launch their own nail polish line.

We love the inspiration behind Monica’s collection and think it’ll be a hit.

R&B diva Monica announced her partner ship with Orly to create a line of nail polishes called “Nail Inspiration.” Aside from a beautiful assortment of colors, Monica said that the line’s main inspiration and goal is to offer encouragement to women during trying times, and each bottle will come equipped with an inspirational message. She is working on this line with her cousin/manager.

We love awards season because we get to see Hollywood’s brightest stars dressed to the nines. And Look who caught our eye, and everyone else’s attention, at this year’s SAG Awards: “True Grit” star Hailee Steinfeld.

The 14-year-old Oscar nominee rocked a Prada dress and complimented it with hot pink nails, earning her our award for Most Adorable Actress at the SAG Awards.

Concerns about fish pedis surface

We’ve talked about fish pedicures a few times on our Twitter page. They’re all the rage in Europe and Asia right now, but Peterborough Today reports that some animal welfare supporters are concerned about the health and well-being of the garra rufa fish being used.

A fish beauty treatment craze which has reached Peterborough has come under fire from animal welfare supporters.

The therapy where customers’ dead skin is nibbled off their feet by garra rufa fish has raised concerns that the fish would have to be starved to behave in this way.

Peter Hiscock, manager of Maidenhead Aquatics, in Peterborough Garden Park, Eye, said they refuse to sell the fish to anyone they suspect is setting up a spa.

He said: “To get them to do a good job you would need hundreds of fish kept at near starvation levels.
